Backgrounds should reflect your character’s place in the world
Tie your character to the setting when possible (kingdoms, factions, history)
Start with standard class equipment OR starting gold (per D&D rules)
No additional magic items at Tier 1 start
Characters should be able to work with a party
Evil or disruptive concepts should be handled carefully
Bethica is a serious, story-driven world—characters should fit the tone
Tier 1 characters progress through play and story
Advancement continues into Tier 2 and Tier 3
Tier 3+ play may expand into higher-level content and greater threats
